Winsome Resources kicks off drilling at Cancet lithium project in Québec

ASX-listed Winsome Resources has begun a 20-hole drill programme at its flagship Cancet lithium project in Québec, which aims to build on previous rounds of drilling undertaken back in 2017.

The campaign follows on from Winsome’s IPO in November 2021, and aims to test several new targets near mineralised pegmatites that were recently identified using new interpretations of magnetic data.

Cancet is a shallow, high-grade lithium deposit strategically located close to established infrastructure and supply chains in the Canadian province. Québec-based RJLL Drilling will undertake the programme with its rig operating 24 hours a day.

Winsome hopes the drilling will confirm previously detected high-grade intersections, increase its understanding of the pegmatite orebody and provide data for future resource calculation.

The company has secured existing magnetic data over the entire project area and intends to conduct a two-week gravity survey, which is expected to start by the end of March.

“The commencement of drilling at Cancet is a significant milestone for the company and means we are one step closer to our intention of declaring a maiden resource,” managing director Chris Evans said.

“This is the culmination of 12 months of work since the Winsome spin-out and listing process began in March 2021 and represents the new company’s first ‘in-ground’ exploration work.”
