Mining Indaba confirms two presidential attendees at 2020 event

The presidents of Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will attend the 2020 Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town next month.

The event organisers confirmed that President Julius Maada Wonie Bio of Sierra Leone will attend the Indaba, which runs from February 3 – 6, along with DRC President Félix Tshisekedi.

Sierra Leone will be exhibiting at the Indaba to drive investment into the national resources sector under the mantle ‘a new direction for Sierra Leone’s mining sector’.

The nation’s Minister of Mineral Resources Foday Rado Yokie will participate in the West Africa panel discussion as part of the Intergovernmental Summit on Wednesday at the event.

“The theme for Investing in African Mining Indaba 2020 is Optimising Growth and Investment in the Digitised Mining Economy – and His Excellency Julius Maada Wonie Bio is the new generation African leader recognising that innovation and technology with drive mining investment on the continent.” said Indaba’s head of content Tom Quinn.

Following the success of the 25th anniversary event in 2019, the Indaba aims to attract even more junior, mid-tier and major mining companies and more investors to cement its reputation as the world’s largest mining investment event.
