17 Nov juwi completes construction on 86MW South African solar PV project
juwi South Africa has completed construction of an 86MW photovoltaic solar project in South Africa.
The South African subsidiary of the German project developer officially inaugurated the Mulilo Sonnedix Prieska PV Park, which is the largest single project in the company’s history in South Africa, this week.
The company also said it is ‘setting new standards in the growing PV roof segment’ after it installed a high-performance PV system at a shopping mall in Johannesburg.
“We are delighted to be able to deliver the largest project of the company’s history to Sonnedix on time after a 14-month construction period,” juwi South Africa managing director Greg Austin said at the inauguration.
Andreas Mustad CEO of Sonnedix, who will be operating the plant, said: “This PV plant is the largest in the history of Sonnedix, and our first in Africa.
“We will be operating this plant for a minimum of 20 years with a local team, the local community, our local partners and bring continued economic development and opportunities for the local community and business in the region.”
