08 Apr Epuron Energy finally wins NSW wind farm approval
Epuron Energy, one of Australia’s most successful wind farm developers announced the approval of the Yass Valley Wind Farm yesterday.
After almost seven years of waiting for the grant, Epuron will build 79 wind turbines in the project’s Coppabella’s district.
The developer said the project will generate 623GWh of clean energy per year, enough to power 85,300 homes. It also has the potential to save around 2.1 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 alone.
The farm’s construction and maintenance is expected to provide jobs for the region and community benefits.
“Emissions in NSW from stationary energy will continue to be significant while its electricity generation is over 80% fuelled by coal.” said Martin Poole, the company’s executive director. “It’s time to deliver on the NSW Renewable Energy Action Plan.”
