03 May Major US solar players Array Technologies and sPower sign three-year partnership
US-based solar energy company Array Technologies has announced it has agreed a three-year partnership with sPower, the largest private owner of operating solar assets in the US.
The deal between the two large US solar players was announced at the GTM Solar Summit in California, cementing an existing working relationship going back four years.
Under the agreement, the companies will collaborate to bring multi-gigawatts of planned solar PV power plants to fruition, with Array offering its solar tracker technology to utility scale sPower projects.
Solar trackers are utilised in regions with high solar irradiance and can produce a 20-30% increase in energy output over fixed-tilt systems, according to Array. Over 70% of ground-mounted PV systems now use this technology in the US.
“The newly created partnership between Array Technologies and sPower is a testament to the strength and success of a matured US solar market,” said Jeff Krantz, senior vice president at Array.
“This deal represents a significant milestone for our company’s continued robust growth throughout the nation.”
Meanwhile, sPower’s senior vice president of project development Josh Skogen said: “We are looking forward to this partnership with Array Technologies – it’s going to help enhance our solar portfolio for years to come.”
