26 Sep Caterpillar announces increase in sales enquiries
Caterpillar has injected optimism in the global mining industry by revealing more approaches for potential deals in the last few months than in the last two years.
The company’s performance is often seen as a gauge of the health of the global economy, as its machines are used in projects where companies and governments are only likely to commit if they’re confident in the economic outlook and their financial standing.
“We’ve had more discussions about potential sales in recent months than in the last two or three years. Whether those conversations will materialize into actual sales remains to be seen,” said Denise Johnson, Group President for Resource Industries.
Vice President Tom Bluth added, “We believe in mining. We know it is a cyclical business and it will come back.”
